Thanks,

There is nothing special about the pump.
This is what you should have with a laterr car.

Or perhaps you have an earlier d jet mechanical injection?

Then this should work. If you have the original "short" style pump they are easy to rebuild.

EFI is an abbreviation for Electronic Fuel Injection.  That tells us that Sebastian's R107 should have D-Jetronic.

You can adapt a newer style pump, but it will require modification of the mounting brackets and rerouting of the fuel lines.  This method is more of a last resort.

To keep the original style pump, and assuming that your car does, in fact, have D-Jetronic, there are two options.

(1)  You can send your old one out to Fuel Injection Corporation https://fuelinjectioncorp.com/ to have it rebuilt/repaired,

(2) Or you can buy a new pump for a 1978-1982 Nissan 200SX, 280Z, or 280ZX.  Those cars during those years used the same fuel pumps.  Nissan part number 17011-P7211.  Picture below.  Also, here is a link to a brand new one on ebay for $287.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/333979681572.  If $287 is too much for you, then I wouldn't expect too much out of your car because when it's all said and done you'll have double or triple more in the car than it'll ever be worth.

There are certain things one should NOT cheap out on when it comes to an old Mercedes........to name a handful, Fuel pumps, tires, ignition components, water pumps, fan clutches, belts, internal engine and transmission parts, suspension parts, and driveshaft parts.

Obviously, this same fuel pump can be used on any W116 that has D'-Jetornic.  It's a direct fit, no modifications, and performs exactly as the original.  I've never had any issues with them.

This doesn't leave out very much.  Wise words.  I love it!

Hear, hear.
UTN never disappoints with the level of detail in his responses. It's most certainly very welcome.
