Any recs for my 1974 450sel 4.5 that needs one fuel injector? Tested them all and one was leaking at the neck above the pintle shaft area. I see options online, but figured I'd check here before I bought one that may not be compatible. Any recs welcome--what I should look for, who to buy parts from, etc... I am new to this and my goal is to get this bad boy running well without throwing cash at working parts. Love this forum!

I'm also looking at the fuel pump--- I took apart the pump end and it was full of gunk. I cleaned the parts with lacquer thinner and got a lot off but still tarnished with a black look and doesn't run when reassembled. I'm soaking the parts again until I hear whether to replace it (again, sources/suggestions accepted as this pump is hard for me to find) or do something further.

Are there any specs to look for when replacing a pump, accumulator (although it may be a filter I can't tell), and damper?

Hi, D Jet does not use a fuel accumulator.  There is no reason to replace the damper can unless it's badly rusted inside, it's just an empty chamber with no internal parts.

The pump spec is 3 bar 2 litres per minute, 10mm inlet fitting, 8mm outlet fitting.  We use a modern Bosch pump meeting these specs.  I can look up the Bosch number for you.

You can't use a common K Jet pulp which is 6 bar free running, 8 bar stall

D Jet injectors differ between 2.8, 3.5 and 4.5 applications.  AFAIK the 4.5 version is the only one available new..  2.8 is green, 3.5 is yellow, 4.5 is blue

I hear that anything other than genuine Bosch is useless, and there are companies advertising injectors as Bosch that are made by a Chinese supplier, better off getting second hand and having them rebuilt/cleaned.

Thanks everyone! This is very helpful. I'm not so confident on which pump to choose out there, but I seem to have landed on this one (see photos). Can anyone confirm that this will work? I'm a bit confused about the threaded end and the required check valve and check valve cap, and I would love some direction here. No where can I confirm that this is a 3 bar pump--only that it is compatible with the model. This pump seems very different from the original and am really unsure what to do.
