Fuel accumulator nipple for small hose

Hello! I just inventoried the fuel system to order new lines, hoses, filter, etc, but while I was doing this I found that there is a nipple on the other end of the fuel accumulator and I can't find anything that had been attached to it. Looking through EPC I can't really find anything that lists a hose going from the accumulator somewhere. Anyone has any idea if there usually is something connected, and where it goes?

Yes.  There should definitely be a hose connected to the end of that. If and when the accumulator diaphragm fails it leaks out of that hose and drains back into the fuel system. Don't quote me but I think it goes back just before the fuel pump but you'll have to doublecheck that.

That is a leak line, if the diaphragm in the accumulator ruptures it will leak and send fuel back to the system by way of this line.  From memory of connects back at the fuel damper cage, but I am sure more learned members will correct me.

Yea, I had a feeling it was something like that! I'll have to take another look at the cage...probably just overlooked it today! Thanks!

good news is that you have a healthy accumulator.   :)  otherwise you'd have fuel all over

Hi Robert!

Thanks for the picture! Makes sense now. I think some regular 5mm fuel line will do the job for that.

Thanks again!

Thanks, S-class...in that case I have to order some, because 5mm I would have had on the shelf ;-)

Remember to think safety when working on the fuel system especially. Unhook battery and keep fire extinguisher handy!

Yes, I am doing the same thing. Parts are inexpensive and 40 year old rubber is long overdue to be replaced. It's actually astounding how long it held up rather well. Cheap insurance.
