Topic: FSM access now that Adobe Flash Player is not supported.

Stumbled on a simple work around to enable access to the FSM  hosted by this forum, now that Adobe Flash Player is no longer supported in 2021.
Service Manual Library is the second stickie at the top of the Mechanical subforum, and the url is http://handbook.w116.org/matrix6.htm

This fix is for the Chome browser on a Windows 10 PC, but it should work for other setups.

Open the url ( http://handbook.w116.org/matrix6.htm )
The page that opens will state "Adobe Plash Player is out of date" and have a gra jis saw puzzle piece (plugin icon)
At the top of the page there is the blue plugin icon, the text "Adobe Flash Player was blocked because it was out of date, the "Update Plugin" button, and the "Run this time" button.

Adust the system date/time settings manually to the year 2019.
Click on the "Run this time" button

Success...the FSM Flash page opens, access is now freely granted to critical information.

Next, change the date/time settings back to automatic, so you can continue to access the web.

Surely a simple non Flash based website could be built for using the FSM? All the PDF's are there, only an interface is needed.

Very interested in your post. I have an original CD of the manual which I ran on an old pc which is now long gone. Tried all sorts of ways to get on the new system without success. Any thoughts on achieving this would be really appreciated.

If you want to access the material on your CD, install a standalone copy of the Flash Player to your computer desktop, by choosing the "Download the Flash Player projector content debugger" for your operating system fom the Adobe website link below:

https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/debug_downloads.html

Insert the CD in your computer, click on the Flash Player Icon on your desktop, click on File, click on Open, click on Browse, click on the Drive that has the CD, click on Program, and click on the ShockWave Flash File (.swf) file you want to open.

That is what I do nowadays, when I want to access my W123 FSM CD-Rom discs.

I installed the ruffle extension for the Chrome Browser and the FSM opens right up after clicking on the orange play arrow.
No need to change the system date to see Flash content on the web.

Please, please just let the abomination that Adobe Flash was die in peace, never to be seen again. It took a good part of the last 15 years to rid ourselves of this piece of utter junk. It's like the Yugo or or Pacer of the software world, but worse.

I'm extremely grateful to everyone here. I've been visiting this forum for years and I never noticed the sticky about the free FWSM access... derp

And I just installed Ruffle and it works great for me. I went ahead and saved the pdf files as suggested.
