Front Caliper needed - Correct part confusion?

Started by carzilike, 22 October 2023, 11:35 AM

I drove to the shop yesterday and brought both the calipers home
There is roughly a 10mm difference which you can see
The reason why the old caliper can't be rebuilt can also be seen
They are very similar in size and configuration but the gap makes the new one incompatible
Is there any way to determine if either of these parts would fit?
Or can someone share a link via FCPeuro / Rockauto or Amazon.CA that will be the correct fit?

Thank you all for helping with thus far on me on this broken caliper journey
It snowed yesterday and seeing the car sitting outside covered in snow and leaves kinda sucked
I am hoping based on what I have shared below, there's hope of finding the correct part online

Also here is the hardware it came with - does this look incorrect as well?

Is the broken area in the seal or in the metal housing/piston area of the caliper? Have you contacted the places I suggested?

Those are two entirely different items pictured. Are the pistons the same diameter?

Typically the front is 60 mm and the rear 38 mm from memory but I may stand corrected, as I have only seen various 450 SEL models which all seem to have the ATE OE/OEM calipers.

Here's a picture of the spacing - The front of both is 60mm when I measured it
The metal housing is broken - its missing a piece hence they can't rebuild it

It looks like the fcpeuro one is what you are after.

You are not measuring the diameter of the piston there...

The piston is 60mm as marked on top of the caliper housing.

There is roughly a 10mm difference which you can see
The front rotors are 22mm wide, the rear rotors are 10mm wide.
You received a rear Bendix caliper instead of a front Bendix caliper.

Before installing new calipers, I'd suggest painting them with high temperature brake caliper paint so they don't get rusty right away.

thank the lord i got one from a mercedes scrapyard after calling a dozen or so places
it looks identical and has the same stampings and looks rebuilt (in good shape)
do you guys recommend rebuilding it again or should i drop it off at the shop and let them install it?

for those wondering for future reference - euro spec cars come with ATE and american spec have bendix
