I fixed it! The warm starting issue is fixed after replacing the fuel accumulator as suggested by forum members. I've done several tests now it the old girl bursts into life straight away. While I was at it I put a new fuel filter in as well. Thanks to all the people who suggested to put a new one in. So much better now. The little 6 cylinder is a gem to behold.

Nice one! I'm needing to replace mine in the 450SE. Can't wait to do it so she can also fire up first time every time.

I replaced the fuel accumulator yesterday and didn't fix the hot start issue  :'(

I replaced the pump, fuel filter and the acccumulator with all associated pipes back in October on my 1979 280SE. Starts like a beauty every time.

Where did you guys buy the parts from? I've a hot starting issue that sounds a lot like this. Since I already have the car on the lift so I can replace the starter, I'm thinking that once I've confirmed the starter is good, I'm going to raise the car back up, and replace the fuel accumulator and filter. I hate replacing parts blindly, but since the car's on the lift and the hot start issue is the second-biggest issue with it, if I spend a couple hundred bucks and fix it? Money well spent. If I still have it? That at least rules a few components out.

Secondary question: My car's a 450SE with 6.9 in it. I'm assuming I need the 450SE fuel pump (so it'll mount to the tank) and filter, but might want to use the 6.9 accumulator. Unless someone happens to know if it was the same tank used in both cars, and I simply use 6.9 parts for all of it?
