Expansion tank hose shenanigans

Hey guys

Ugh, you know when you think a job is going to be a doddle and it turns out to be a gong show (Canadian reference for a balls up ;D)...

Thought I would dress up the engine compartment with a new washer reservoir, which looks great but of course made the original expansion tank look pretty dismal, so I decided to swap in the W126 style tank with the plug kit for the sensor.  So far so good.

But...The W126 tank has a substantially bigger outlet for the bottom connection which goes to the bottom of the radiator, no way the original hose was going to go back on.  I had some spare Cohline water hose with 22mm ID but again no dice >:(

The outlet is 26mm so I guess I need to now go and source a W126 spec hose to fit, huh?  Unless the "original" hose I have is in fact not the right one and thus I'm up the creek anyway.

Anybody done this swap and/or have a solution for the "right" hose..?

Cheers

Did some searching, seems like the W126 is the only option here.  Oh well at least they seem plentiful, just have to avoid the URO trash ::)

I have a new W126 tank. Took a @3" piece of hose that fits the tank and it also will go over the original hose. I think I put a very short piece of 3/4" copper pipe in the old hose and then clamped it all together.

Thanks Robert I thought about doing a similar fix but I think I'll just get the W126 hose and cut to fit (let's hope it's that easy...)

Does the other end of the W126 hose fit?

I read a few posts on the forum of guys having done it so I'm pretty sure it will work. I think it just needs to be cut to fit at the radiator end.
