Just ordered this special pliers-like tool from Pelican for exhaust hanger donuts.  Seems that I took took stupid pills today, can't figure out how it's supposed to work and can't find any guidance online.   :o :-\

Anybody ever use this thing?

I just use a screwdriver or pry bar personally, the longer the better. At least that's what she said ;D

I just use my bare hands. I bought a set of the reinforced exhaust hangers from Mercedessource, but they dry rotted in about a month in the damp Washington climate. I replaced them with new genuine Mercedes hangers and they have lasted about 8 years, 7 of them being in an Arizona desert climate--and they still look good!

Here's what uncle Kent has to say about his favorite donut tool.

Not surprising that he prefers his own special tool. ::)  It does look useful, I have to admit.  Mine is one of these:

It really is amazing the number of special tools that are available. I have only ever used a long screw driver through it and levered. I didn't even know a special tool existed.

Soon they will come up with an app for our iPads on how to install them.
And if we extrapolate, another app for driving and enjoying our wonderful 70s cars. Nah!!!! Luckily that one is impossible LOL

As I was replacing the donuts today, I've made a short video on how to re-install them easily. For removal, I just cut the old ones off.

Very nice!  The tool didn't turn out to be very useful.  i ended up using a heavy screwdriver.  I like your way better.  Guess I better go out and get a set of those offset wrenches.   ::)
