Wotizzit?

I'm given to believe that my 116 is stock UK-market compliant, privately imported to Oz when about 5 years old.  Neither my mechanic nor I am aware of anything like an egr valve.

Is it a component of the '70s push for 'clean air' whereby twice as much fuel was burned in the hope of achieving half the former output of pollutants?  The M110s fitted up with the max. of US-required 'clean-air' devices was so severely choked back by all that energy-sucking crapola that it lost some 50 hp from the Euro version.
