I checked out the 450s today, and didn't have any luck. The two W116 450SEs at the yard were 1973s, the W107 450SLC was a 1973, and the R107 450SL was a 1985 and missing the distributor.

I just looked at some pictures and it looks like the early ones might work in the sense that the vac advance is the same? It's a dual port unit as mine but I cant tell if its truley the same vac unit.

oscar

Can you take the unit off and look for a part number.  I bought a dual can unit for my 350 in 2007 from autohausaz.com, new part number 1237121987, was $134.90, now on sale 5 years later $245.77  ??? Stupid inflation. It was the same part number for 450s and the listing number is 07123

You could always check the Bosch klassic site if you're feeling wealthy, they have been making many old distributors lately, they had the K Jet 450 one for about 800 euro last time I looked.

I just checked rock Auto..and like everyone else it is a send in yours to be rebuilt service, they don't actually have any in stock...I did end up buying a new vacuum advance from my local dealership....supposdly one of four left in the USA at the time...175...

Picked up a tested and working 2nd hand distributor (complete) for my 280se D jet last week.
$125 from a guy who  has  a shelf full of them, for all the 116's.
Not something I need at present but took it for future use, as I know they are getting hard to find in working order.

pm me if you need his details.

Hi all

What do you guys say about the electronic ignition conversion kit? Link- http://www.hot-spark.com/
I'm thinking of converting mine.

djetronicista

:) I personally used a Pertronix unit should work the same.

The vacuum units are still available at the Mercedes Classic Center. I bought one for my 6.9 several years ago. Contact Tom Hanson at MBCC.
