Title: Distributor fitment markings...???
Post by: irvine on 11 May 2019, 01:31 AM
On a 280se d_jet, when refitting the distributor body back into the engine, is there a reference mark for the actual position?? Or just go of the position it was last in??

Thanks.

If in any doubt put the crankshaft at OT, and then align the end of the dizzy button with the mark on the top rim of the distributor.  This will allow the car to at least run until you can fine tune the ignition timing with a timing light.  Be sure to set your dwell first and ignition timing last, as doing the reverse will change your ignition timing.
