As a Reg Prod Order, all 6.9's had air...basically GM Frigidaire comp but certain destination markets had auto temp control variant[ Chrysler?] .US market in partic.

The good ole Cruise control.
I reckon they had it from the beginning. Again another borrowed technology.  this time from FoMoCo.
I am currently repairing my RHD 6.9 cruise control equipped column combo switch. This is a rare item. most replacements /..aftermarket appear to be LHD orientation and from what I can see, have no provision for the delicate mtg of the CC switch body. :-\

Randy, the Ford Motor Company cruise control was done away with in early 1975, at which point Mercedes adopted the VDO system where the control switch is on the steering column instead of a rocker switch on the console.  In light of the aforementioned, there shouldn't be any 6.9 cars with the early Ford system.

Ah yes VDO..of course..tks for clearing that up.

On the matter of the column stalk combo switch.
Can any one please confirm the operation of the headlight flasher? That is....will it operate without ignition and headlight switch on?
Or will it only operate with  ignition?
Or only operate with lights on and ignition?
I have having a terrible time trying to figure mine out. I have tried every combo  and tracked the circuitry up hill down dale......it does everything ..but work?
After 10 manhours the only thing that would make sense is that there is a relay in the flasher circuit only and it is defunct. But having waded thru the crummy circuit diagram and exploring the car, I cannot see that  a relay is used.

Thus.  Does anybody know for a fact that no relays are used in the lighting circuit inc the flasher function. ?  ???
