Where do you find these option codes on the car ?

Can I repeat Pat's question - where do you find the codes for the car?
Data card? option plate?  Is that right?

I'm just not sure I have something related to my car with as many numbers that Carl lists in his first post.

Two places. The original Data Card (Fahrzeug-Daten), which should be either in the owners manual, or the service manual, and looks like this:

or, from the options plate on front brace in front of the radiator, and looks like this:

These are not from the same car, so you can't compare them.

Hi Patrick,

They are on the data card supplied with every car new.  They are also stamped on the ID plate (Not the compliance plate) which is on the front cross member.  To decipher them, have a look here:

This is the response from Daimler Chrysler as to the option code 540. So, do you have this Carl ?

Dear Mr. Semple,

this seat adapter was meant to fit even between the two frontseats so that three persons can sit in the front of the car.

Hi Craig,

Definitely not!

Confusing isn't it?

Carl.

That is the same as what I have in the 6.3. I would never have called it a seat - just a padded cushion.

I would call it an armrest.

Regards,

Carl.

MMMM I'd agree with carl, I know a similiar thing in the W123 coupes in the back seat, the centre cushion can be removed, and theres an oddments tray there, but theres a seatbelt and latch to hide as well. Savagely uncomfortable for the middle passenger too.
