If your A/C pumps cold air then got to be normal.

But I personally find A/C is pretty hard on engines, reason if u run A/C and feel teh condenser/ rad infront, feel the heat coming out.
The Rad is suppose to let cold air pass thru to exchange the heat from ingition. So u be the judge.
Mind as well call me a Luddite. :D

What model of 116 you have?
I have a 300SD, live north of WA, in BC canada.
