Big Oops with wiper arm springs and windshield

Thought I'd pass on my "Ooops" for those out there changing out wiper arms.  FYI: Do yourself a favor and make sure when you are installing the wiper arms back on to the car to have a blade on it so when it springs back it does not crack the windshield!   This crack is just big enough that I'll have to replace the windshield.  I was meaning to change out the original windshield seal anyway now I have a reason to do it! I'm looking at about 300.00 US from Safelite Auto Glass to get it done with installation and cost of replacement windshield.

That's not good!

I'd have said a few words out loud on making that mistake.

I truly hope you have better results with Safelite than I did on my 300SD. I provided an OEM seal and when they were done with the car (took about 3 hours) the seal was torn up. It leaked even after taking it back 5 times so I ended up buying a tube of 3M Bedding Compound and filled all of the gaps. This was after I had somewhere else replace the windshield and I thought the poor job was due to an aftermarket seal, but using an OEM seal was no better! The next time I am doing the job myself.
