Another NLA part - Trans mount

Hi guys

Thought I'd break the sad news that another critical part, the rear engine mount (transmission mount), part # 116 240 04 18 is also now NLA :'(  This part of course can cure many a driveline shudder and is fairly easy to re/re.
Now we are stuck with Meyle/URO etc garbage.  Rubber parts is one area where I hate to skimp as it usually is a prick of a job to replace these parts and critical to the Benz ride we all so love.  Lemforder is always a good choice but it seems they have gotten out of the game big time.

Oh well...

Does anyone have one that isn't worn out/busted? I still think that 3D printing is going to be what saves vintage cars like ours.

Very true, it's already started in the classic bmw scene, 3D printing bushing and mounts. Only a matter of time before it s done for all makes.

I'm surprised it would be NLA, these are used through to the W126. I've used the cheapies and haven't had them fail and I wouldn't think a custom one would be any better. There is also a 108 part number for these mounts as well.

I'm waiting until I run into a need for a part which is NLA, and then I'll likely have a friend 3D print it for me, and see how it does wear/quality-wise.

Are you guy talking about printing rubber rather than nylon? That's news to me! Yep definitely would be a great thing.

There are many types of filaments to print with. From plant-based PLA, through ABS and polycarbonate, to some (very) flexible ones. But none currently available would be up to this task. They're just not durable enough. This is still a job for injection moulding.

It could be done with polyurethane though.

Well, the hits keep on coming on this one folks...

After dropping $89 CAD plus shipping on an "OE" replacement part, the (usually good) vendor sent me an URO mount which I could have bought for sub 20 bucks on ebay, had I wanted URO garbage of course! Last time I buy from them.  For the record for any Canadians, do not buy anything from EXOPARTS in Mississauga, crap attitude and let's not forget their 50% restocking fee, yes, you read that right!!!  Way to run a business you imbeciles...

I'd contest it on the credit card if you used one. just tell them they sold you a switched branded part, not as advertised.

To be honest, I have Uro mounts on both 6.9s now and they seem to be up to the task, they have handled many WOT events too.
