Does anyone have any experience with this product and outfit?

Or this one?

I'm intrigued with the idea of a better gear ratio taking rpm stress off the engine, longterm.  But these options are very expensive, although probably just twice as much as cobbling other parts together, plus labor.

Any thoughts out there?  Any information you have is greatly appreciated!

Well, you could install a different rear axle gear ratio. However, that may negatively affect acceleration. Your 450SE might have a 3.07 ratio differential. You can get ones as low as 2.47 from a W107 or maybe a 2.65 from a 6.9. Along with potential acceleration loss, though, you have to have the corresponding speedometer gears or it won't read correctly.

If you have about $2,500 or so, you could put in a Getrag 5 speed transmission. They turn up on eBay from time to time. They aren't terribly robust units, though.

These Tremec units are apparently the shizzle, I bet you would have to sell a kidney tho:

Looks like a less-expensive option.  Do those drop into a 450SE easily?

Not sure really, as with most things automotive, you can really make anything fit with enough time/money/wives 8)
