If the master cylinder was old, and they bled the circuit by pumping the pedal, then its likely the piston went well past the usual travel area and hit a patch of rust, scoring the seals along the way.

A0044300901 is what's on my car.
About 300EUR from the dealer, or 150EUR - delivered - for an ATE one from these guys https://www.autodoc.de/ate/954235

hi all

after having the calipers replaced the mechanic thinks they are not the correct part, as the brake pipe goes in the side and not the rear of the caliper
as it does with the original ones, and the brake pipe and caliper wil hit the bump stop ?

any advice welcome

i have attached 2 photos (hopefully) to show the difference, this is the original with the pipe connection to the back.

here is the other with the brake pipe connection to the side

The calipers in the photo with the brake hose fitting to the side are for the rear brakes.
ATE 210033 for the left rear.
ATE 210034 for the right rear.

The caliper in your first photo is a front left caliper.

The front left caliper (MB 116 420 00 83) is the ATE 2100157.
The front right caliper (MB 116 420 01 83) is the ATE 210158.

Hope this helps sort things out. :)

I saw how back in 2016 you knew how to test the "trash can" on my Mercedes, well mine is bad doing the jumping up and down or nothing at all and I need another one, I have been hunting all over to find a used one as I can't afford a new price, you said back them you have several of these and would let the person have one for shipping cost, do you still have any ( I hope I hope) I can't afford the NEW price, I am new to these cars and have fallen in love with my 1981 W126 300SD and am trying to get everything working as it should, please if you can help me I would be most grateful. Thanks Kathie West

Wow. I was in a hurry and decided to spend on the nice calipers. I made a huge mistake on just trusting autohausaz and purchased the same rear ate calipers 1234200583 & 1234200683....

I noticed that about the side brake pipe, instead of the rear as in my car.

Thank you for this info. So my euro, 1977 450SEL, will require ate rear brake calipers  MB 1264200483 & 1264200583.
