Sorry if this is elsewhere but I couldn't find it. My 6.9 has a 0 438 140 010 WUR warm up regulator. I believe this is incorrect. Should it be a 0 438 140 015? I am looking to either find a rebuilt unit or attempt to rebuild it myself but wanted to verify the correct part and or obtain the correct unit and rebuild kit.

According to Bosch (see attached pdf) the following WUR was used for USA delivered 6.9's :

- From 8/76 till 8/77 the 0 438 140 015 was used
- From 9/77 till end of production 0 438 140 010 was used
- For High Altitude cars from 9/77 till end of production 0 438 140 042 was used

See "Warmlaufregler" near the bottom from the list. Not sure what year your 6.9 is, but it may be the correct one.

I have the 010 one on mine. But there are different styles with added features such as full load enrichment and altitude compensation.
The 010 has full load enrichment but no altitude compensation.
I think it's much of a muchness to be honest, I'd just stick with the one you have as likely it's the one it left the factory with.
Interestingly my chassis number is 2765 so our cars must have left factory the same week!

This is excellent, thanks everyone. The door jamb says 5/77 which technically conflicts with the Bosch parts registry with a four month differential but that alone is fascinating. Since our cars were just 4 car lengths apart from each other on the factory assembly line it would make sense that 010's were on the cars even if it's just two data points.

It's only 1129ft here so altitude is not an issue and I don't plan on a hill climb with it anytime soon.

I am leaning towards sticking with the 010. Thoughts on specific rebuild kits or possibly a 3rd party refurbishment company SpecialTAuto.com since I am here in the states?

I think CIS Flowtech is a good outfit for WUR rebuild in US.  Not cheap though and long wait to get in as far as I know. They also do fuel distributor rebuilds.

That's a pretty crusty looking original fitting which if it's still working fine, I'd be leaving alone.
However I see you have a new Air slide valve so maybe you are just going thru it progressively for good measure.
Yes  you can rebuild them yourself.......I would rate it medium difficulty. You will need some fuel press measuring gauges...  a deft touch....and a fair bit of patience.
OR. ..You can have it professionally overhauled........Flowtech in the US seems to have a good reputation.
Some folk insist on the fuel distributor being checked at the same time as any fiddling with the WUR  ie a matched pair.
Personally I have not had any issue in swapping out like WURs for like WURS but introducing a new WUR can theoretically start a bit if a chain reaction.
