6.9 Tachometer Wire

Since starting my car, the tach isn't working. Having looked at the wiring diagram in the library, I have found that little corresponds to it.
On a 6.9, which is the tach wire and does it connect to the +15 side of the coil, the terminal block, or one of the ballast resistors?

The instrument cluster hasn't been out this time, but the coil and everything else around it were removed. I need to know which is the tach signal lead so I can check if it is connected correctly, if it is then remove the instrument cluster and check its connection.

Thanks, P.B.

If I have to remove the cluster it might be a good time to change the caps in the tach and "pimp" out the back lighting with the blue globe covers I purchased recently.  8)

Wire runs from TD of ignition module to one terminal of a two connector terminal block, splits into to two wires, one (green) to pin 1 of diagnostic connector and other (green/yellow) to  tacho.

Thanks for the info, Koan. 8)

I have just been out to the car to investigate.

In the existing arrangement, I had the green/yellow wire from the ignition module connected at the series connection between the two ballast resistors.
There were two other green/yellow wires terminated together at the double block, presumably one is "Pin1 at Diagnostic Conn." and the other is the "Tach Wire". I have now connected the green/yellow wire from the Ignition Module to this, so there are now three green/yellow wires terminated here. In the wiring diagram, it also shows this connecting to the series connection between the two ballast resistors and I'm not quite sure how this is possible or even required. Now there is only one extra connection to the blue resistor and that appears to be "red/blk" or similar.

Hopefully this is correct, but I don't actually remember there being any more than two lugs per terminal on the block.

The configuration has been tested A1!

The Tachometer now works, so all is good.

Not sure your wiring is correct.

PM me with a real email address and I'll send you a coupled of pdfs (ex WGB I think) of AUS wiring diagrams.

Thanks, Koan.

Having studied that diagram, the current arrangement is correct. TD of Ignition Module, Pin1 of Diagnostic Connector and Tach input are connected together on the terminal block and everything else is 100%.

I couldn't reconcile your ballast resistor connections with what I could see on the diagram but obviously you can and all is well.

Yes, the reason why the tach wasn't working was that the Green/Yellow (TD) wire from the ignition module wasn't connect to the terminal block, but the resistors (my mistake). 8)

Everything is now connected according to the diagram.
