Does anybody know if brake calipers/ rotors from different model Mercedes Benz will fit directly onto a 6.9 such as the 126/123 chassis upgrade where you could go from solid rotors to vented rotors if you installed the 126 calipers?  Thanks

Hi MBKOG
The 6.9 has vented front rotors same as all the W116 chassis models, are you thinking of upgrading the rear?

I did a bolt on brake upgrade using stock parts (from the second generation W126  for the front,  and W123 wagon calipers for the rear) on my 79 W116 300SD. Part numbers are listed in the link below for your ready reference.

The front brake upgrade requires using at least 15 inch rims due to caliper clearance issues.

As recommended by Alec, the only upgrade worth considering is the 2nd gen 126 big brakes up front. The rears are best left as standard.

Thank you all.  I have issues where I want original Mercedes Benz parts.  I originally asked the question because original calipers are no longer available for the 116.  I see that all original parts are available still for the front upgrade mentioned by Alec.  I will definitely go that route.  Thanks again!

The only disadvantage is you can never go back to original Bundts, but 14" tyres in the correct size & load rating are almost impossible to find anyway so probably no big loss.

Easy. Just buy 15 inch Bundts  ;)

It should be possible to get your calipers reconditioned. Why change?

TJ 450

You could also ask at the Classic Center, last I heard ATE were still manufacturing the originals. It may be possible to get new or recon through the Classic Center.

Certainly, the rear calipers are the same as the W126 and are definitely available new.
