Anyone know where I can order an OEM replacement fan clutch for my 1980 300SD w116?

Respectfully,

I think the part number is 000201922 and there are a few places showing stock available as genuine Mercedes.

I don't get any search results using that part number on Google.

Part number for the OEM fan clutch is 000-200-04-22. The list price is.. are you sitting down? $1,020. I've seen them a few hundred cheaper around the internet.

Good news is that Meyle and Uro each make one for under a $100.

Not sure about the "under 100usd" for the Meyle, but when I bought them, I think I paid 130 a piece, but don't shoot me if I forgot the exact price. I bought 2 of them together in order to get the best price on the net, which I did at the time. The tricky part was the actual brand. People selling Beru and Meyle in advertising, but actually selling Uru and others instead, without notification.
I understood from members here that the original Beru's in NOS are indeed the originals, but not advisable as a replacement because of logical age-deterioration. Seems Meyle sells the best ones, new and most durable. -And they don't cost 1000usd. I did not see those prices when I was shopping 1-2 years ago, though. It was more like 250-300 euros a piece. Have all the NOS  W116 MB/Beru's gone to that level now?

Great thank you I found the Meyle one. Also found the original for $900. why does it cost that much money is it just a Supply in the band thing?

OOOPS typo - it should read 002001922 but now I see others have defined another part number so I'm confused. So I may have given you a non turbo number or a fan and clutch combined.

I think you can refill them with silicone oil to restore their operation, if desired. I've seen threads on PeachParts about it. I ended up changing to a plastic 9-blade fan and corresponding clutch on my 300SD. They might be cheaper than the stock ones and are supposed to be an upgrade. You can also use a smaller fan pulley to help with cooling even more (just don't use a smaller pulley with a metal fan or it can explode, apparently).

I'm not aware that  Beru ever made these.  The options are Behr and Meyle.  Avoid the URO.  I've fitted a lot of these, and I've actually had more happiness from the Meyle ones that from the Behr ones.

If you don't care about maintaining original spec everything, I would recommend thinking about removing the fan clutch fan and installing an electric fan in its place. I went to a Volvo electric fan (I believe it was from a 940 or another model that shares the same fan) in my 300SD. Here is a write-up of a guy putting one in his 450SLC 5.0 https://slc4dirt.wordpress.com/about/building-the-beast-part-3/electric-cooling-fan-part-1/. It requires adding a temperature switch but since it's run off of the electrical system instead of directly off of the engine, it doesn't rob as much performance from the engine when it is on. They're also incredibly abundant and cheap. I spent less on my setup than I would have spent on a new fan clutch.

That IS pretty cool, and it looks stock to the untrained eye.

My bad. I meant BEHR! The MB/Behr is not as good as the Meyle, is what I was trying to say. Did not even notice myself, I was saying Beru. Getting old.

Well I got the meley fan clutch from a local shop in town. It's a top notch shop with outstanding mechanics. Anyway I opened the box and the fan clutch was sealed in a clear plastic bag. I noticed some of the thick sticky fan clutch fluid had leaked out and it was all in the bag and covering the fan clutch. Is this normal? it must have been stored on its side and leaked out so I think I'm going to send it back and get a replacement.

Also I need a lower radiator hose for my 1980 w116 300sd but I can't seem to find anyo online. Are these hoses still made?
