15" STEEL wheels in 2020

:) Yeah, while I wait for the Classic Center in Cali to respond to the Fuchs question (nothing for a week now), I want to look into 15 inch steel wheels.
How do I make sure to buy the correct -second hand- size? I could check the tyre on the wheel in a pic.
Is 185-16/r15 correct? I am sure that data does not suffice.. ???

The 15" steel wheels are part number 126-400-28-02, so maybe that'll help in your search.  They are 7Jx15H2, so I'm not sure if a 185-16 R15 would work well or not.  Your biggest issue will likely be finding 15" hub caps that aren't priced using the gold standard.  Far too many people think that the 15" hub caps are only for a 600.  Consequently, they jack prices up 10 fold for absolutely no reason at all.  Though, for all I know you may already have some.  :)

I have a bunch of 14" NOS caps, but no 15"s regrettably.
That part number you speak of, would that be visible inside the rim of those wheels, like the Fuchs do?

Can you fit the 15 inch 116 style hubcaps on the 15 inch 126 style steel rims? I'm not sure if the 126 hubcaps uses the same attachment springs.

Stan, the part number on the steel wheels is usually on the front face next to one of the holes that a lug bolt goes through.

Max, the part number I have is a replacement for the original part numbers. So if Mercedes didn't make a mistake then the polished stainless steel wheel embellisher should fit ok.

You might already know this, but The Classic Center sells new 15" wheel covers. For a price, of course...

W124 steel wheels (A1244001002, 6.5Jx15 H2) have the same 5x112 bolt pattern, but they're ET43 so likely too wide.
They're quite affordable still at under 120EUR each. The hub caps are NLA though (A1244000425).

It looked like the A1244000425 has a new production..

The 15 inch steel wheel you need is the 126 version with part number supplied by UTN.  It had an offset of 25. The 124 version has a high offset (41, 44 or 49 depending on version) so it would locate 20 to 25mm further inwards than the 126 wheel and will not work due to issues of clearance with tie rod ends, calipers etc

Did the 15" with hubcaps back in 2011, looks and works awesome...

QuoteHi 1974450SEL, this is the research i have done so far with help from a reputable source:

15X7" steel rims part number 126-400-28-02 (W126 part number)

Old style hub caps in 15" from a 600 Grosser (looks just like the common 14" hub caps) part number 115-401-04-24

Apparently in the USA this is a very popular "upgrade" which i am in the process of doing to my 450SEL but will take some time as i am having the bits shipped over in installments to keep within budget.

PS link for what a 600 is... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_600  Those 15 inch hubcaps will soon be on my 450SEL  8) From memory on the Org the later style W126 rims (post 1986-7?) will fit our W116. You will just need to cover them with respectable 15 inch hubcaps such as those found on the Grosser.

Will dig out pics of car so can see how they look  8)
