Title: Zebrano Consistency
Post by: Nutz on 06 July 2006, 01:10 PM

I need to purchase some sections of zebrano trim but I've noticed in my fleet, there are many different shades. Are they year specific (tones)? If anyone has photos of their zebrano trim that they wouldn't mind sharing,it would be appreciated.Add the year too please. Thanks in advance  8)

I only have burl, so whats happening with all your projects David? I noticed that you have a 6.9 but never seem to mention it. I have been following the wide body conversion and turd with keen interest.

Hey Al,

The 6.9 is in storage  ;D I've been wanting to bring it home but I really need to catch up with what's here at the house first before I rotate the ranks. I plan on making the beast my winter project (need to freshen up some suspension components and other misc) along with that beat up 108.

Darth is slowly getting done and Turd is,well, just sitting outside neglected. ;D

I hear ya, I sold John's Euro 6.9 recently to a guy in Wisconsin. That car is covering some serious mileage on the back of a trailer. I really couldn't bring myself to do another 6.9 restoration and the Rover P6 is kicking my butt right now. I thought I would use the money gained from the sale to buy a pickup truck and spent the holiday weekend looking for one. I ended up with a 1973 MGB instead that is currently in 9 or so boxes (go figure).

Oh,you got yourself a Rover and a MGB? That's kewl  8) Sounds like you're getting as bad as me now  :D

There's an old Rover up the street from me for sale but I'm scared to buy it.Not sure of the year but it looks like the type from "The Gods must be Crazy".Why did John sell the Euro 6.9?

You should be scared  of the Rover, parts are really hard to find in the US. The MG is the exact opposite :) .
John sold the 6.9 to me as he wanted a 450SEL that did not require any work, and eventually bought a beautiful example. I sold it on because i had my hands full with other restoration projects, but it appears to be going to a good home. The fellow who bought it already has a W116 300SD.

Going back on topic you can have your wood refinished (re-veneered) at Heritage woodworks. Drew is an excellent chap and should be able to match anything you throw at him or even make you something unique. This is what he did in his own 280TE.

I guess not all Zebrano trees are alike  ;)

We can pick up the non-W116 conversation off line. Ping me on alialabbasi@hotmail.com and i'll tell you all about it.
