That is quite a project you have! Wow

Wow, I just ran across this thread.  What an incredible project - and your engine looks to be worthy of the task.  I am absolutely blown away by the quality and complexity of this build.

Many thanks guys for the encouragement to complete this project. I am surprised I haven't needed the flame proof suit yet. ;) I will keep all posted on progress as I see now there is some interest. I will also post some earlier pics of the build as well.
Cheers.
Dave.

Because the last 2 are! They are the concept pictures of what I will hopefully end up with! ;D

More Progress. ;D
Gave up on the 450 K-Jet engine change and went back to original 350 D-Jet. Now moving ahead nicely.

Old 350 and Tranny before.

350 ready to be reunited.

450 transmission was a better unit so bolted up the the 350 motor

Keep you posted. ;D

Doing great!  That motor looks marvelous with the body - and it was pure jewelry before you installed it!

Just to keep your appetite strong here is a picture of what in my opinion is the finest folding-top W116 ever built:

What an amazing build! Normally, this much modification would bring criticism, but with all of the detail and effort put into this, I think even the purists have a hard time saying something. It is really refreshing to see W116s get the attention they deserve. I am excited to see the finished product.

Many thanks guys for the encouragement! I am also surprised at the lack of criticism from the purists. Not that I want to see a heap of negative comments. Back from O/S next week so will be able to get stuck in again. Hopefully have it running shortly after that. Next will be the dash and console install, will keep you posted with updates.
Cheers.
Dave.

I am wanting to lower the car to achieve a ride height similar to the concept pictures below

Rather than removing the springs and cutting I am looking at getting a complete 4 coil air suspension replacement.

What do you guys think?? It has been done before.
