Windshield seal available

I had the front windshield replaced last spring, per usual Safelite could not source a replacement gasket through their one pawltry vendor and so installed a universal gasket. I give the tech credit for making the best out of a lousy situation but the gasket leaks like a sieve. The good news is there is a replacement gasket available from URO, part number 116 671 0120, I got mine for $49 from FCP Groton here in Connecticut. They will be installing it later this week so I will report back with the results, just wanted to let all you guys know we finally have the proper seal available!

Nice, I'll have to place an order with FCP Groton then... They were NLA at AutohausAZ last time I checked, and I need a new one.

Once upon a time, when I was buying Volvo parts, FCP was the place to shop.

I bought URO front (116 671 0120) and back (116 670 0039) seals from RockAuto in USA last month.
I was pleased that the corrosion under the seals was minimal: just two small rust spots easily treated with POR15.
The seals seem to be fine, fitted OK. Tested with carwash and garden hose and I have a nice dry inside again.

I'm not so pleased we put the front screen back without the shiny trim strips. I now know they have to be
fitted before and not after. Can't really blame the windscreen tech: he was not born when the car was made!

Hello everyone,

P/n 116 671 01 20 is a US DOT approved seal and it is not currently available from MB. However, we can supply 116 671 00 20 which is the p/n for the rest of the world, stk available at the Classic Center in Germany, identical part.

Price: US$153.00 (170.00 list) + shipping

If anyone is interested please send an e-mail to joe@mbklassik.net or info@mbclassic.net

Tks,

Joe

Indeed, and I'll try that first, but AFAIK it doesn't fit.

The Uro ones are actually moulded on the corners if I remember correctly, so that's what I'll get if the existing one doesn't fit.

PS, Actually, on second thoughts I think I'll email Joe if it comes to replacement. 8)

Well I just proved myself wrong and fitted the anodised surround and seal to the windscreen from the green 6.9 without any issues. I do however have rather tired and sore fingers now... :-\

Hi Guys,

Just let me know if you want to combine an order and save some money on shipping and I will coordinate with the Classic Center.

Tks a lot,

Joe

I'm wondering what about the USA windshield seals is different than the rest of the world. Maybe the USA seals have thinner inner lips so that they pop out easier?

Squiggle, according to the Classic Center  the seals are identical. Because a windshield is considered a safety item I suppose the DOT required MB to certify not only the glass but also the seal so they assigned a different p/n to it.

Tks,

Joe

Does anybody have experience fitting one of these URO front seals? My windshield tech says it is the same Chinese sh!t he has fitted already on the car. He would rather seal the one already installed, it has a couple of weird gaps and leaks badly but otherwise looks OK and takes the trim pretty well.. man I'm tired of wasting my time and money.

I just bought a URO and hope this is not the case for me. I heard the window is hard to do and takes at least 2 people.

Yes, URO is probably made in China, but I fitted a rear one to my 6.9 without any trouble.

When in doubt buy genuine though.

They are very difficult to fit in any case, without the odd gap. It takes lots of skill, it seems.
