BTW, Shaggy? you have to clean the Chrome before you polish it mate.

Better go back to doing some body work instead of yakking on here all day, I see a quiet rub in my future and perhaps some knob polishing as well.

One final thought for the day, As Major Tom demonstrated here...... There are no good spray and wipe solutions.

A good finish takes hard work and mucking about, you can maintain the results of your hard work with a spray and wipe solution but you have to do the hard work first.

Pure car porn.........  My loins are still quivering lol

the next step in softness from 0000 is a lambswool mitt BTW and an excellent item to wash bright-work with.

For what its worth I like this Detailing thread better than the last one I was involved with and the Tim's are of a far higher standard at The Org as well............

Hey I just bought some stainless Steelo soap pads from the supermarket and I'm wondering if it's fine enough??  0000???  It says it's not suitable for non-stick cookware and other delicate surfaces but it's guaranteed not to rust.....   ::)

This works pretty well for most hard metals. Probably the only thing I wouldn't use it on without lots of caution is aluminim. As MT stated earlier, steel wool can seed rust, esp the fine kind of wool (ask a hair dresser what it feels like to get hair stuck into your skin ... basically the same thing.)

Anyway, with aluminium this rust seeding occurs easier because of the difference in metal hardness. Yes it can be done, but I learned the hard way when I used to ride cross/motocross and went over frames of 6061 and 7075 aluminium. The steel hairs embedded into the aluminium!

I find a few drops of machine oil helps when I have done this, and helps disperse any metal hairs (rinse off more easily).

Fantastic pics!
