Last year I saw a late, Euro, red K-jet 350 SE with MB1's and small bumperettes font and rear.
Guys, it honestly looked OK and the car was still in good nic. I had a spy-pic somewhere...

Maaate that is awsome, congratulations!!!!

Funny thing, when I first saw your username way back when, all I could think of was "Mr Squiggle".  How apt, you don't by any chance bare any resemblence do you  ;D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mister_Squiggle

I tried drawing a w116 freehand a couple of times and failed miserably.  You've done a superb job and US bumpers never looked so cool.  Well done!! 8)

Haha, no resemblance to Mr. Squiggle.

Before and after's

The end results of one full day of high speed compounding, cleaning and waxing, the paint still had a little water on some parts of the car in the pics (hood) but the 35 year old paint still looks like its wet even when its 100% dry.

Your car looks great! Do your over riders have metal on them?

Interesting... it appears, then, that there is more than one version of these overriders as the ones I saw in person were all rubber.

Oh yeah and thanks !

But I did not notice how many dings and dents the body has until after I put some shine to her  :P

Squiggle Dog, it seems that the black paint has come off all my over riders that cover the metal, I am thinking that the metal just appears to look like rubber due to the black paint, but it would be great if I was wrong of course.

Also I am happy to find out today that the metal can be shined up quite a bit to look really good, I did rub a little polish on one today just to see if I would get any result and......

Squiggle Dog

Cool! I think you may be right. The ones I saw in person probably are metal that is painted black with rubber tips. Polishing the metal parts would look nice.

*eyes Squiggle suspiciously*  Oh you think it will be easy do you?  Well, demand for bumper overriders in the US has just doubled!  I didn't see the picture of the fins on the back bumper before finding this thread, and that really seals the deal for me - I must have some!

I'd love to find a set and get the metal portion stripped of any paint, and chromed.

But, I must give credit where credit is due - if it weren't for your interest I wouldn't even know these existed.  Did you ever manage to find any information about these?  Or do you have any idea about what ever happened to that Craigslist car?  I suppose jimbo was wise and didn't want to give his up.

I'd like to have something similar, only with a little more "rally car" vibe...

Maybe a roof rack  ;D

Here's a complete car for sale with them: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160576568375

I think the official term for these is "badge bar". I've seen these on W115, W108, and earlier cars. I'm still very curious as to whether these were a dealer, a J. C. Whitney item, or what. I'm not sure if that craigslist car ever sold. Maybe it's still down at the car lot.

I put 6.9 bumpers on my car and now I'm not sure if they would look right on them, but I still keep my eyes peeled.
