Remember this pic in a previous post?

Well, as promised (finally) I've got the upated pics of the interior
(console)

Floor Carpets (before)

After

Floor carpets look so much better, the brush marks make it look worse than it is.

Mate that looks soooo much better.   Wouldn't it be good if you could just throw the lot in the washing machine.  Must have taken a lot of elbow grease.  Well done.

Washing machine? now why didnt I think of that, I kinda cheated on the 4 carpets, I got a professional to clean them for $50 (mates rates, he does our rental properties on recom). The console carpet was a stiff brush and lots of fabric cleaner foam (I still want to get a few more stains out as well).

Well done, 116Benz!

An amazing difference, shows what some dedicated work can do. :)

Ooohhh OK got it, yeah it looks heaps better than when I bought it, theres still a bit more to do. Amazing how much grime carpet can trap in 29 yrs worth of driving.

Looks great, pays off after the hard work

I seem to recall somewhere that you were looking for a vinyl spray to re-do the console. How did you go with this ?

havent got much further on that, theres a vinyl guy in town here that does some mates rates. while he's doing that, I'll get him to do the cracks in the dash at the same time.

Something I learnt a few years ago when doing my 113 that might help. I have a red interior and I couldn't find a red bit of trim to go on the window winder. Someone put me on to a place that will colour match vinyl dye. It didn't cost much and 6 years down the track and many windings later you still wouldn't know it used to be a white one. It is not a 'paint' like i have seen in aerosols and can peel off, this is very watery and seems to get right into the pores of the vinyl. Just thought I would pass this one on in case people didn't know about it. The place I used was SA Colour in Adelaide (Edwardstown)

Just looking at one of the vinyl dash restoration places today as I want to get my W109 dash done, and came across this picture of a Honda console. Perhaps this is a better method than painting it. No doubt more expensive, but looks pretty good.

I don't know what would be suitable for a w109 Craig but if you need something fit for a 6.9, maybe this'll help.
Note how the Gucci logo looks like a 6 and a 9.  8) What more could you want.  Easy to find matching suitcases too and pass them off as original, delivered with the car. :D

Actually it looks yuk, I've just been waiting for a year and an opportunity to get those pics out of my system. ;D
Not sure I like that Honda carbon fibre thing either sorry.  I'm just trying to imagine something similar in a w109 or w116 and can't.
Wood and leather, you can't go wrong (says me with a thin strip of zebrano and loads of MB Tex). ::)

Ahhhh - I wasn't actually talking about the insert for the console. I was actually talking about having the whole thing done the same as the outer frame.

Oops.  I'll leave those horrid photos there still, I don't want them back :D

Yes, FWIW, I think recovering is a better option.  I reckon recolouring that centre console wont do it justice or match the rest even if the rest is recoloured too.  We've seen many examples of discoloured centre console vinyl but I've also noticed, the top corners particularly, take on a different smoother almost translucent texture.  It bugs me a lot and nothing short of recovering will make all those parts of the interior look uniform.
