Underbody & Boot/trunk protection Question.

Hi all.

I've found a small hole in one of my rear boot/trunk well.  About 3mm (1/4") round.  I believe the leaking rubber (now replaced) cause water to gather and slowly rust through.

I'm taking to the repairer to fix, as I just don't have the time. I've asked him to weld it up if neccessary.

Whilst there I'm thinking (to make it worth his while), he can do a complete inside boot/trunk area spray with the under car body protection stuff.  Can't hurt surely.

Also I'll get him to remove the wheels and do the same to the 4 wheel wells.

When my dad originally ordered the car through MB it had this option added (or some similar product of the time) and was part of the production process before delivery. I do notice however most of this underside protection has thinned, cracked and fallen off over the years.

I've read some of the old posts on the subject, but I'm thinking, "has anyone done this or anything similar lately?" & what are the do's and don'ts of the excercise?

More importantly, what are the modern day equivalents?

Any tips appreciated.
