trunk mats

I have to replace the trunk mats of my 450SE, any ideas in Europe?

Do you mean the large horizontal rubber mat, left/right rubber well mat or the carpeting all around?

Did they always have the rubber mat and not just the sort of black carpet?

They all have the large rubber mat. Certain years also has small rubber mats that fit in the side wells.  The carpet was a MB additional item.

I have the large black rubber mat. It was removed from my 6.9 and sat in the mechanics shop. No rips or tears $185 + shipping.

The W116 parts book offers insight into what and when the rubber and carpeted mats were used.  The original poster has a 450se, so I'll use a 450se/sel model for the following analysis.

For the rubber trunk mat on the trunk floor......this was present in the 450se/sel up to chassis number 072548.  It was referred to as "dark Grey", color code 7007

For the carpeted trunk mat on the trunk floor....this was present on the 450se/sel from chassis number 072549. It was referred to as "Anthracite", color code 7086

For the left and right side lower trunk well rubber mats,....this is a little confusing, so follow along.  Essentially, up to chassis 075638 a rubber mat was present, but between production start and chassis 075638 there were two colors used.  Dark Grey (7007) and Anthracite (7086).  The dark grey was used up to chassis 054896, and from chassis 054897 to chassis 075638 the color Anthracite was used.   However, the early dark grey was superseded by the anthracite at some point.  So, to recap, rubber mats for the left and right lower trunk wells were used up to chassis 075638.  BUT.....from chassis 075639 until production end the felt lined inner quarter panel coverings were extended to cover the lower trunk wells all in one piece.  So the late models did not have rubber lower trunk well mats. 

Does any of that make sense?  :/
