Well you would certainly know better than me TJ, I'll grant you the bonnet would be a different story from the boot lid, what's a steel one weigh, 30 odd kilo?

Indeed, I'd say around 30kg would be about right. The boot lid is fairly light though.

The 107 SLs had alloy bonnets and possibly boot lids, along with the C126 SECs if I remember correctly too.

I stripped the trunk lid on my 300SD down to bare metal a few days ago while refurbishing it. It definitely contains no aluminum, lol.
