Any hints on how to restore/replace the blue fibre-optic like lighting of centre console switches? The one that slides into the switch housing on the side.
Mine work if you look closely, but are so dim, that once fully assembled, the switches remain dark.

Thanks! I must be going blind, as I haven't spotted it in the EPC. Sadly - NLA at all of my suppliers in Europe.
But now that I know how this looks, and where it's mounted it should be easy enough to fix/reproduce.

For some reason, the early fiber optics (blue ones) break down internally over the years.  The later ones (black) seem to last forever.  Luckily, there were millions of them made and in use.  You can likely rob them off of any W123, R107, and late W116, W126 or even W201 and W124 cars have them.   Freebies at the junk yards, too.  :)

If you manage to reproduce it, count me in for 3 units as well... if you please!

I have the blue ones, in a 07/1979 car, so probably not a rule either?
But I've found a potentially suitable solid core end-glow cable already, and will test it once winter is over and I get the car out of dry storage.

That's rally unusual to see the blue ones used past 1975.  After 1975 they all became the black ones.  Maybe someone replaced them in the past, or the factory was using up old stock when building the car?  Hard to say.
