Replacement carpetting

I am looking for replacement carpetting for my 6.9. The original is too worn and I'm in no mood to replace a patch here and a patch there. This is something I did when I first got this car some moons ago. For the money the best I found so far is this link below. Does anybody have better ideas?

Hi Adam,

We can supply a kit from GAHH at US$588.20 ($692.00 list) + shipping via Fedex to the UK

Is your heel pad in good shape? I ask because no one has the original style heel pad and if your is ok I usually suggest ordering the driver's carpet without a pad and then an upholstery shop can transfer yours onto the new carpet, the result is perfect.

If you are interested pls send an e-mail to joe@mbklassik.net or info@mbclassic.net

Tks,

Joe

and what about the front carpetted panels under the dash/glovebox?
once my body work is sorted along with the random leaks this will definately need doing in my old girl :)
thanks! J

Replacing the heel pad with an original is brilliant  8)

That is exactly what I did with my 280CE. Total cost for front & rear carpets, doing it myself was $150.

Joe, I'll have to think about that as it's more than I was thinking of paying. Plus there is import duty on top which does not make economic sense. Do you have pics of the carpets on close up? Both top and bottom?

Curiously my heel pad was originally carpetted in black velour - it seemed original and very worn. I replaced it with carpetting material bought elsewhere. Seems that some models came with rubber instead.

Adam, as far as I know all heel pads were rubber, someone may have replaced it previously.

I don't have pictures of the kit and the GAHH site doesn't either, but I can say it looks 90% like the original, the heelpad and perhaps the vinyl binding is a hari differente but that's me being super picky and paranoid... I have done several cars with their material and the quality, execution and fit are second to none.

In fact the 6.3 pictured here in the forum will receive a full GAHH kit when the time comes.

Tks,

Joe

Adam - I saw that posting on eBay too.

Only issue I see is that it is for an SE - not SEL. The front carpet sets will be fine. Everything behind the B-pillar will be too short.

Maybe they have SEL versions available...

They do have RHD SEL versions available.

I don't doubt that the GAHH items are of higher quality. As in any restoration one must weigh up the pros and cons of repairs. I am still weighing it up.

However, whatever I do my car will still be not worth more than 5K in the open market. So all this expense is purely for my own satisfaction.

I'm fairly certain none had them.  It's just a block of wood or plastic covered by carpet.

Instead of spending a ton of money on the original thin carpets, I went to a carpet store and bought the thickest, most plush, luxury living room black carpet that they had, and made new pads out of 1/2" thick memory foam.

Now it feels like the carpet in a million dollar mansion, and cost less than half as much as replacement floor mats.  8)
