Looking for the holy grail of easy ways to restore that stubborn and hazy anodized aluminum on my W116 and found this product which sounds too good to be true. You know the old saying.....

Will post my experience if I go the route of purchasing it! Has anyone tried this product? www.aluminumrestore.com

There are companies that restore anodized aluminum.  If you use any of them, you'll have to specify "bright dip anodization", as that is the process that was used on your pieces when they were new.

Local platers here make a point of saying that they will not accept anodised trim for any work. They also said they could replate headlight reflectors which I need doing but when I contacted them said they can only do round ones. Looks like I will have to buy new.

I dont know if the is the correct one, but if so costs way less than replating

Hope this helps. Its from another thread on another forum.
I posted this pic last year of my rejuvenated headlights reflectors Round And Square from my w108 project car.
I had to spoil many donor sets to get the absolute best reflectors I could to offer them for repair.

I gave them to a silversmith. This guy does Cups and the like for sports organisations. (Like when you win an award for coming 1st etc)
He gave me back a complete set with one or 2 extras, as the photo shows.

I guess I'm saying, find the right person and they'll tackle anything.

Its my intention one day to see if the same process can be used inside the rear light assemblies on the 116. ( they are Plastic, so I'm not sure)

Thanks for the info. Did try that silverplating liquid that you rub on. Took off more of the reflector plating but really worked well on some candlesticks we had. So not sure exactly what is on the reflectors.
