Yes, 134a works although you need more airflow through the condenser as it is pretty lousy compared to R12 in terms of efficiency. Mine is very cold though in the 6.9 with the A6, although it would not work so well with the York compressors I suspect.

Propane works great though, I'm running Hychill in my w126.

I was always told that EPA was a world wide entity that was present in all countries of the world.....I guess it's not.

That would be the United Nations Environment agency, which sets the global agenda, which even the EPA must follow - provided the US government ratifies relevant treaties, which it hasn't the greatest record of doing.

No.....I was referring to the EPA.  I'm very aware of the UNE.  My reference was specifically to EPA.  Even though EPA must follow standards set forth by UNE, the EPA somehow has more influence than UNE does.  I've no idea why or how, I just know it does.  The U.S. used to be halfway decent in ratifying treaties, but with the idiot we currently have in office.....it's all become a big joke.  :/

The EPA at best has only "strategic cooperation".  The EPA and USA dont have to do anything that the UN says.

"The EPA outranks all government entities"  sorry but that just cannot be true in any way. They are list at 19p far below most of the government.

Trump has indeed gutted the EPA:

not surprising as the EPA is now concerned with food waste?

https://www.epa.gov/international-cooperation/epas-role-united-nations-environment-programme-unep

"The assembly also adopted a resolution drafted by the EPA on the prevention, reduction and reuse of food waste, marking the first time this issue was raised as a significant issue in a multilateral environment ministers meeting.

In the US, yes. Outside of the US all it can do is wiggle it's finger and hope for the best. Pretty much like the UN - US relationship: you have a veto member country which barely ever ratifies any treaties it proposes or agrees to.

(Geo)politics is a bloody nightmare. Best left alone :)

Cars are a much nicer subject, even if we talk about the mysteries of engine oils.

I agree with all points except the "The EPA outranks all government entities"  sorry but that just cannot be true in any way. They are list at 19p far below most of the government." commentary.  Regardless of where they're listed, they still outrank government entities, even if they are listed as 19p below most government.  If all of that were true, then we, here in the U.S., wouldn't be allowed to use, buy, and service R-12 automotive a/c systems as long as we hold a 609 certification.

What I want to know is, why did Europe not allow for the same? In essence, R-12 is outlawed here in the U.S. too, but can still be used/bought under certain conditions.  I find it very odd and somewhat unbelievable that Europe wouldn't have a special provision set aside.  For crying out loud......European scientists are the ones that pointed out, and proved, that a herd of cows in a field with flatulence is more harmful to the ozone that R-12 is all these years later.  What was Europe's response to this?  Absolutely nothing.  So see?  There is always some smaller, lower ranking entity that always outranks the top entity.  The key is not to get caught or let it be proved.

Aaron, if you need the gory details have a read of the EC regulation I have mentioned - all acceptable applications are described there. Have some caffeine on standby though, it's not what I'd call a riveting read.
