pompy wants original speaker grilles for his 450SE, like these ones (photos borrowed from Carl Jones)

From the EPC, it looks to me like the number is 000 820 16 12.  Has anyone ordered this number, and if so, do the items look like the picture, or is it some newer supercession part that will arrive?

I was under the impression that you couldn't get these from MB anymore. I could be wrong however.

Certainly, they are available here;

As an aside, I highly recommend the Visaton range of speaker drivers for aftermarket replacements. They are a German company who have state-of-the art manufacturing facilities in China. I just got a pair of the 4" full range variety with whizzer cone for the 190E. Try getting them "off the shelf" these days. All you can get are poor quality generic two-ways that sound attrocious.

Thanks TJ, I see they list them for A$15 each.  I will have to contact them on Monday to see about shipping.  MB here wants about A$32 each, supposing they are even correct.

Whilst I can't be sure, I think the grilles are made by Becker.  These were not fitted to my car originally.  I sourced mine from RobertD, but I see them regularly on ebay and at the wreckers.

I can dig up the part number for the correct chrome screws if you like.

Regards,

Carl.

Fitted, with correct screws:

Sorry, can't help with the part number.

Carl.

Looking at their website, there's lots to choose from. Have you purchased speakers for your W116 from them, and if so, could you recommend specific model or stock #'s? My car has the under-dash front speakers.

Thanks!

Brian, i will start a new thread, "front speakers" so as not to hi-jack this one!

Peter here was so nice as to confuse me about the W116-correct rear speaker grilles.
I see them online in black, blue and cream, but I have been utterly unable to track down other part numbers, except the A0008201612, seemingly black.
is it correct that the W116 was only fitted with the black version?
Does anyone have the number for the cream/pergament version -or the blue one?

I've never seen color coordinated rear speaker grills for a W116, or even an early W123 or late W114/W115.  I've always seen black.  Even on the U.S. 300sd they show to be black, as well.  Then again, I've been fooled before.  Now, the front speaker grills were obviously color coordinated from the beginning.

As of 3 months ago, I ordered two sets, and they're an exact match to the originals.  However, if any of you order them, you must add color code 9051 to the end of the part number.

I too, have never seen any colour other than black for 116 rear speaker grilles.

I have the same question. My 1975 280SE has a cream interior and I want to fit original rear speaker covers - are we sure they only ever came in black for W116s?

In this age of hobby 3D printers I wonder if someone was to draw them up in 3D Cad and made them available as STL files we could then print them any colour we wanted.
