Hello all!

Unfortunately the last storm up here put a branch right onto the 450, breaking the rear windshield and making a mess of the trunk and bumper. I have the hardest time finding a somewhat reasonably priced rear windshield. Not even any of the local junk yards have any, and shipping is an expensive and problematic endeavor for that part. Does anyone know if any aftermarket suppliers have this part in their program, or any other ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Every now and then a used one pops up on ebay kleinanzeigen.  Looks like you are in Germany, so if you're lucky it'll be close by so you can go and pick it up in person.  Shipping them will for obvious reasons likely end in tears :'(

I spend most of my time actually in the US these days, and especially right now traveling with restrictions in place is harder than ever. Well, and the car being in the US really doesn't allow for that option. Good thought though. I have the same worries about the shipping tears! LOL! Thanks for the info though!

Pilkington or Saint-Gobain used to make reproductions a few years back. Might be worth checking with their US resellers. Other than that, MB might be your only option... Insane prices though, if they're still available at all. About 700EUR for the heated version 6-7 years ago.

Thank you for the leads - I will do some digging. Pilkington also makes/used to make the glass for the Porsche 928 and it was of decent quality.

BCK1963

Hello Zax,

a friend of mine who will be moving back to Denver from Germany next year would be willing to bring a windshield in the container for his house stuff or in one of his cars which he will be bringing back. The stuff will arrive around mid of next year.
If that time frame is ok you may contact him.

That sounds awesome, and I will definitely keep that in mind in case I don't have any luck with the vendors I am checking at the moment! Thanks for getting in touch!

Retrolunas in Spain may be the biggest producer/seller for these. -if you really want a new one.
But, if you want a used one, best hope there's no discoloration around the edges and a broken defrost line.

Zaxxon

Thanks for that info, Floyd! I also just found out that Pilkington no longer supplies classic glass, so that's a dead end there. I am at the moment trying to negotiate a deal on a parts car...might just be worth it, since I need a trunk lid and a bumper too.
