Hi Lads,

I started posting this in the other older thread but will start a new one as I would like to store some of this research as I come across it and in the hope that anyone else might be interested if I can pull this off and if they end up looking good.

Original Thread is here:

http://forum.w116.org/mechanicals/aftermarket-alloy-wheels-for-my-6-9/

I found a website that sells JBW Foosh wheels and the following I reckon would fit.

•The 5x112 PCD in 15 inch diameter has an offset of ET20.

I've emailed them to see if they would do a custom offset for the 17 inch as the offered one is for the VW fraternity and is as per below.

•The 5x112 PCD in 17 inch diameter has an offset of ET40.

Website is here: http://www.coolairvw.co.uk/Item/Shop_by_Manufacturer~JBW_Wheels/JBWFOOSH/JBW_Foosh_Alloy_Wheel.html

Just putting this all in one spot.

911 Fuchs Wheel Data

Size       Offset      Backspacing   Part #
4.5x15...42mm.....100mm...........901.361.012.01
5.5x15...42mm.....112mm...........901.361.012.04
6 x 15....36mm.....112mm...........901.361.012.06
7 x 15....49mm.....138mm...........901.361.012.05(R)
7 x 15....23.3mm..112mm............911.361.020.41
8 x 15....10.6mm..112mm............911.361.020.42
9 x 15....3mm......117mm............911.361.020.03
6 x 16....36mm.....112mm...........911.362.113.00
7 x 16....23.3mm..112mm............911.362.115.00
7 x 16....23.3mm..138mm............951.362.115.00(944)
8 x 16....10.6mm..112mm............911.362.117.00
8 x 16....23.3mm..125mm............951.362.117.00(944)
9 x 16....15mm.....130mm...........911.362.118.00

And regarding 944 vs 911 fuchs I found this.

The 15" Fuchs fitted to 944's had the same offsets as those fitted to 911's:

7x15 - ET (offset) = 23.3mm
8x15 - ET = 10.6mm

With the 16" Fuchs things were a bit different:

7x16 - ET = 23.3mm (911 & 944)
8x16 - ET = 23.3mm (944) 10.6mm (911)

There was also a difference in the 944 lugnut recesses on the 8x16" Fuchs

Hi oliveoyl W116 has 112mm bolt spacing Porsche is 139mm just so you know . Geoff :)

Not according to the link attached!  A fully polished or bronze set would look nice!  I wonder how a set of 17" Foosh wheels with an ET11 offset (custom) would compare price and quality-wise to these:

I think the "thrastar gold" as pictured here from the link oversize gave would look good on a 116.  Has a hint of the Ronal about it.

These things are seriously cheap.  I'm sad they aren't available in a 16" size.  For anyone willing to go low profile they would probably look good on a 116.

Here's a link to a USA source.  $113 each!

Sadly it looks like those 'Thrashstar' wheels have set bolt patterns that won't fit a W116.  I wonder if they could do a custom set and how much....  Don't forget the spigot or pilot hole diameter in the centre of the wheel.  Other designs have 'to order' bolt patterns (I thought they all did), but I'd imagine the costs for them would be significantly higher....

I just sent a message to showwheels USA about our need to have this wheel offered in an appropriate bolt pattern.  I also told them it would be nice if they considered a 16" version as well.

Hi Jonny & Mark it will be interesting  to find out from showheels as for the porker wheels the onlt one that will fit is the 15 inch wheel which alas is only available  in width 4.5 & 5.5 inches.  Geoff

You guys from down south need to get on the PHONE to these people.  i really think a Ronal-clone wheel is a possibility from these guys.

I got this very interesting reply from Showwheels USA:

Hello John,

Thank you for the insight on the demand of that wheel. Now I'm not too familiar with your body styles names, as I'm lacking knowledge on the body series and how the models were named. But doesn't mean I can't help, now if my knowledge serves me right your bolt pattern on your Benz should be 5x112, so far no problem on that bolt pattern. My concern would be the offset, from memory those models had a mid offset 15-25 positive offset. Which might be doable, but we need to double check specs. The Thrashstar is available in polish and I have blank wheels available that I can drill any bolt pattern that we want and also I might have room to shave the backside to give you guys more positive offset. Are you able to check specs on your car?

ET 11-30 would be fine and if he has to remove material to achieve the higher positive offset, I'd be leaning towards ET11 in a 16x8" wheel.  Most modern MBs have offsets in excess of ET30, but these won't suit a W116.  Did he say how much?

Unfortunately according to the literature a 17" wheel is the smallest they offer in this series.

Here in the USA price is $113 each for the standard wheel.  Aussie quality on a budget!
