Hopefully this works, I've just had all my wood refurbished and started to install, here's the center console.
I actually bought a "scrap" set of wood so I didnt need to loose my originals until it was done, so I will get my originals refurbished too and will then sell them.
Unfortunately I had run out of light by the time I was finished, so the picture isnt great.

I had to sign up to the forum to see the pics, Rob. There is an amazing difference in the before and after.

I don't know why your car's wood aged so badly in the first place. Do you know where it spent its life?

robparker

As far as I know it was always a UK car, apart from 10 years in Ireland from approx 2005-2015 where I think it just sat in a field rotting. Hence the huge amount of structural work I've done to make the underside good again over the last 18 months! The interior and mechanicals are basically done now, this coming year will be a full body strip down and paint.

Where did you have that woodwork done?
Was it pricey? Any warranty? What was the duration of the job?
Did they show you the ropes, details of the process?

It's a guy I use to rent a unit next to, he mainly did jaguar and rolls Royce wood, and also made steering wheels. It was a full re-vaneer then lacquer. I've seen him working when I had the unit. The only reason I'd struggle to recommend him is he is abit of an "artist" not business man... So things get delayed, one piece was lost (I bought a spare scrap set of wood as I knew this might happen, and I happened to have another spare of what he lost!) But his workmanship is excellent.

Hi Rob,

On the subject of replacement leather, fabric and carpets. Would you be willing to share your sources?

Thanks,
Adam

Sure, carpets came from UK company called "Coverdale" classic carpets. They have templates for most models, and I bought a little extra to do things like center console sides and the lower dash bits.
Leather came from an eBay company based in Germany called sjs styling, and were great value and fit. Not as good as original leather, but a fraction of the cost and easily replaced if someone wanted to.

You can get a lot of these from cabrio.de
Look and fit is not factory perfect, but still very good.

A full set of carpets starts at just over 400EUR. They also sell the same carpet it's made of by the running meter.

They also do leather and fabric:

In the UK, there's also the D:Class guys, I hear they have good reputation.
