New snow tires
« on: 30 December 2006, 03:35 AM »
I just had 205/70 Toyo Observe snow tires fitted on my '76 450SEL.

I haven't driven a car with snow tires since the late 70's and those were studs on a 6 cylinder '65 Mustang.

On the way to work tonight, I braked kinda hard and locked it up, something I've never done with the Firestone Indy 500's the car came with.  I would have expected better traction than that considering how soft they are but maybe the ground up walnut shells in the tread work great on ice but not slightly damp asphalt?

1976 450SEL, 116.033  Sold it to buy a '97 Crown Vic.  Made sense at the time.
1971 250C, 114.023      Sad but true, it's gone to a new home.
1976 280C  Stolen by the City of Seattle, sort of.
1970 250/8, traded in on a 1993 Land Rover Disco
