New rear screen ( heated)
« on: 25 January 2011, 04:03 AM »
How costly is it does anyone know to replace this? Mine has started to delaminate and I am sure that even with my classic car friendly mechanic it will start to have trouble passing it's safety check shortly . Plus the rear no longer demists , which I'd a PITA in winter .... Am slowly thinking new seal and glass and remove / reinstall at body shop whence paint / body work is done .

I found a good second hand one and possibly not that hard to find depending where you are located. Not that hard to replace but I like the idea of doing it at the body shop because it is possible that when the old one is removed it could have rust hidden in there and you don't want to miss the opportunity to fix it.

Now if it was a W126 coupe like mine, finding a good used rear screen seems impossible and new is around $2k last time i checked at the dealer. No aftermarket and not the sort of item you want to be freighting from OS i would think.
