Does anyone know a good source for unused Euro headlights and Euro bumpers? 1976 450SE here. Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Ebay. Be prepared to sell a kidney...
Without more investigation, I do know several bumper pieces you can buy new from MB. A few are NLA.
Rechroming may be a bit less than new on some pieces.
Headlights keep search in ebay and you can occasionally find a good price.
I see a pair of NOE Bosch Euro lights for $1200. Is that par for the course?
try ebay.de "w116 Scheinwerfer" buying each side separate sometime works well.
Also sometime gumtree? in australia can net something
I have a set of headlights for sale here. , LHD cars. (mind that!) How about you go find the cheapest NOS set available anywhere, show me, and I'll cut that by 25% ;) And no..not the one for 1200 bucks.. That is the most insane price I have ever heard!
I thought.. Some guy is selling a pair for 2299 euros...
I already did the work for you, in Germany, that is. Only the "R-side is available, but if we quickly dream they have the L-side as well, they would charge 780 euro including shipping for the pair. I'll offer them 25% off for 585 euro including shipping. Does that work?
Same deal for bumpers. I don't have a main rear bar that I am willing to part with, but most of the overriders front and rear, I'm gonna hold on to the front main bar for now as well..
Oh, and to further reduce costs.. i have some large overriders that are absolutely mint, but not officially NOS. I'd cut your best NOS find price by 35% for those.
So, to reduce costs: the main front beam is normally not that rare, and can often be found, 2nd hand, in pretty good nick -locally. It's the corners and the rear main that always have dents and rust.
Ships from Taiwan.

What bumper parts are NLA, Rumb? I know the main rear has gone above 1000usd now, but it can still be gotten as far as i know. Are there others I don t know of?
Just from memory one or both of the joiner strips.
Ps, I need to go check but I may be interested in a few bimper parts also.

With prices like that rechroming is a good alternative.
Strange the front sold out, and the rear is still available..
BTW.. who's selling the rear for 828usd? hate to say, but that s cheap now. Them are 900+ Euros inc tax and full discounts in Europe, and mostly just 1010euros inc.
Those prices are from mboemparts.com

I have been looking for Euro headlights and bumpers myself, although most likely used ones. Several times on ebay there have been new stainless steel bumpers posted that are fabricated by a company in Vietnam called Tynda Bumper. www.bumperclassic.com
Does anyone have any experience or opinion of these? They were very prompt responding to email and said it takes about one month to fabricate the bumpers after ordering.
Thanks for your time and insights.
I'll check them out, thanks for posting! I ended up finding a used pair of Euro lights for a few hundred bucks, and got a great local MBZ mechanic who is happy to swap them out at a very reasonable price. Exactly what I'm looking for! I'll post pics once ready!
The guy at bumper classic.com has a front and rear bumper for $1450, including shipping.
Not on their website:

I noticed that too. So I contacted the company and that's what he came back with. Anyone dealt with this company before? Bumpers look nice, but what do I know?
Yeah I've emailed him as well. He does have them available for the w116, but says it takes one month to fabricate. They are stainless steel rather than chrome but look nice. Would love to hear from someone who has actually bought some, either for a w116 or another vehicle.
I know some people who bought the stainless bumpers for W111 chassis sedans and said the quality is very good.
I've seen several cars with these stainless bumpers on them. They do look nice, and are usually correct in shape and fitment, but they don't shine like chrome, and they scratch really easily.
Check your local Pic N'Pulls. I've picked a clean set there and have seen others.
Had a senior moment there. Checked my stash. Ive got a front in good shape but missing the lower rubber on both sides. PM me if interested.
This is what the replied at bumperclassic. They didn't quite get my exact questions, but here you go:
Dear Mr Stan.
Great to hear from you.
1. Yes, I use a Stainless steel grade 304. never rust.
2. Yes, Bumper can be Scratched. any chrome or stainless steel polished. if you have a damage. it will be scratch. But Stainless steel polished 304 is best. Because you can repolish if bumper have any scratch.
3. Yes, I sold more set W116 now. I will ask my customer feedback on my facebook for you.
4. (about: sending me a testing sample) Sorry, shipped cost and import tax is big problem. It is not easy to send to you and get back to me. I can sell only.
I am so sorry for your inconvenience and thank you for your contact me.
I wish that you can consider and buy my bumper and review it. I will give a discount for you as your reseller in next order.
Have a nice day!
Thank you and best regards!
