Title: just lost a bamboo seat
Post by: w116john on 24 August 2019, 06:22 PM
hi all

i am kicking myself

i had made contact with a parts seller in germany about a bamboo front seat, i have been looking for one for a while.

he had one, sent me pictures and i agreed to buy it but i insisted he put it on ebay so that i would have some protection. i have been stung by ebay kleinanzeigen recently.

any way he listed it and someone bought it before i did

a pain in the a%$, my own fault for not acting quick enough

such is life  another one will show up,  here is the listing, i'm still on the lookout for a bamboo seat

This is why you ask for the listings to be private. So no one can snipe it.

Maybe all is not lost, I bought a Brake Master Cylinder from stern*empire and it never made it past the priming stage when the seals blew, although their NOS is rare and fascinating, as are their prices!

I have a bamboo from my 300SD I have to lay to rest from rust and a head problems. I can post the photos, with matching headrest and rust free headrest slides. I also re-greased the slides after cleaning for rust and both handles are crack free original and has all the plastic covers intact.

If your interested, it seems like the best way would be for me to ship without the metal frames. I could do just the covers., Possibly the upper back portion in tact and no bottom seat spring just the cover with headrest. Freight is astronomical and the post office is the only feasible shipping route. If interested send me a pm and we can work out something.

well i have received my parcel today with my bamboo seat covers, pads and arm rest from Diesel 617, and i will get these put on asap

i will post a few pics when i have it done. I'm delighted to be getting this sorted.

all i need now is a piece of bamboo loop carpet for the drivers side front sill, it's a bit of a mess under the bonnet release pull.

the rest of the carpet is old but fine.

all the best

And it's good for many more miles! Column shift with seat heaters is an option I've never before seen. At one point I was considering converting to column shift and then getting a zebrano center console wood piece with the tray in it and putting seat heater switches in it. But, with the huge center console these cars have, I guess it might as well have a shifter in it.

i am sorry about the sideways photos, the seats are great, the old passenger seat had totally disintegrated inside
so another job ticked off, its been a good year for getting jobs done.

the seat heaters like so many options on this car do not work, including the  AC,  cruise control and the headlight wipers.

the zebrano center console is showing its 43 years,
