I've had a look at the link but I don't think it can do the job, dimming yes but not the force off with ignition on. Looking at the board picture it shows only four connections.  I'm guessing they would be ground, +12V supply, output to the light and an input from the door switches. A wire for the ignition on volts would need a fifth connection. Can't think of any other connection arrangement that would work

I was talking to a W201 (190E) owner today, I thought they had the soft off but he said no, then he thought maybe it used to...

Does any one know in what model the soft off first appeared?

This next one papalangi posted up and is one of those on-the-back-burner-jobs-to-do but the advantage of the module in the next link is apart from a 20sec delay and fade, it provides an ignition overide as well.  Click on link then on the left hand side click on "Dome Light Dimmer"
