Just wow.... Pics coming later. Yes theres rust deep in air box. Water runs down fresh air/cabin air box. Theres a trough that seems to shoot water directly to that region. Im thinking about removing it for a temp fix. Any quick anf efficient ways of going about the air box rust issue?

ColMustard

I meant to say the water runs down the flap that selects between fresh and cabin air. Lol crappy phone

Today I removed a pillow that's been sitting on the rear driver-side floor for a few weeks, and found it was ruined from water stains underneath. So I've got water getting in there from somewhere too. :(

I've never noticed any leaks when it rains or in a carwash except  for a slight one in the driver door seal.  Man I can't wait to get the money to replace all the seals...at least it hasn't rained much lately.

ColMustard

Hey. Sorry, haven't been on a pc recently enough. Was gonna post those pics.
First off, here's the pic of that knock out that had a little stream coming from it. I covered it with black rtv. It was located on the passenger side kick (U.S.)

Next is all the other 'holes' I found under the cowl
This one was especially bad

Ok, so some of you might laugh at me about this, but I totally avoided the airbox problem by removing that trough and installing this 'custom', what I like to call diverter. It puts the water directly into the cowl drain

I like to call these "phantom leaks."

My car doesn't leak either... or does it? Yes it does. Only when I wash it. Never had an issue with rain.

Presumably from the odd angle of water being sprayed on the car versus falling down.

ColMustard,

I see you have a bad wiper motor grommet, not that hard to replace since you have the grille out, did this on both 450's. You'll need to crawl unde the dash to unplug the cable from its connector, take it apart and run the individual wires through the new grommet

Tks,

does this mean it cant leak through there then Joe?

jbrasile

James,

If that grommet is bad you will have a lot of water coming into the car so it is one of the main items that should be checked and replaced if necessary.

Tks,

Joe

ColMustard

Damn it. The windshield still is leaking like a civ. Is there supposed to be a gap between the window frame and seal? Pics coming soon

jbrasile

No, the seal should be in tight contact with the car's body all the way around and the chrome molding should be inside the seal itself, no gaps anywhere.

If you post some pictures maybe we can help a little further...

Sorry to hear about this...

Tks,

Joe

USA Auto Glass fail #3. This will be the third time I go back there. They put that sealant crap around the glass and it still leaks in the corner I first noticed it.

Do you see the gap?
What should I do if these idiots ruined the seal?

jjb-w116-hu

ive read somewhere the chrome should be in the seal before it gets put back in, is this correct - that does look like a mess - Joe - surely its supposed to be more precise than that? :(

ColMustard

The other side is this bad, if not worse, but it doesnt leak for some strange reason. I dont know what im supposed to do

TJ 450

What does it look like on the inside? It doesn't even look like it has been pulled in properly... the inner lip should be pulled in over the aperture.

It looks alright on the inside as far as I can see. Cant see under the dash though and thats where the water appears to be coming from
