This is fantastic. I have had similar rust issues in my red 450 SEL.
Well, I'm from Finland and I would really wish to see this car in the coming estonian MB meeting in June.
I hope to make it there (like last year), I will come with a SL-72.
Perhaps you and your car are there.
MB 450 SEL -80 (oldtimer for the class)
MB E220T -95 (daily driver)
MB 230E -82 (a present for my son)

Martin,I'm quite impressed! The car had rust everywhere. Congratulations on your job! I'm also restoring a 116. Has many spots of rust, but nothing like that.
