Has anyone installed W126 seats in a W116?

I have black leather seats out of a 1991 Mercedes Benz 560SEL that I have reluctantly decided to part. Has anyone made them work with a W126?

Al, from memory (oh oh), the fronts just bolt in. obviously the rear doesn't fit.  i was just removing and installing front 126 seats yesterday in my 500sel.  the same 4x10mm bolts hold them in. the nuisance is getting them in and out if the 126 seats don't have power.  it requires 'hardwiring' them with a battery/jumper kit and some wire to move the seat back or forward for access. the connectors for all the seats are at the front right side. interestingly i found out yesterday that there are different connectors (not the same plugs!) between first and second gen seats!! this was slightly disappointing as i got them out of an 84' and put them into a late 80's car.
if they are going in your 116, wiring them in would be an absolute nightmare i imagine.  I'm not sure if you could simply unbolt the 126 seat from the frame and fit it to the 126 frame? getting the motors off the 126 seat base is actually pretty time demanding. but should shed a few kg's if not needed.
ill see if the wrecked seats i have are still at dads and take some snaps.

Yep, you can unbolt the actual frame the seat mounts on, and put the 116, or manual 126 version on there. You would still need to deal with the non-manual backrest though.

some pcis of the 126 seats i removed from a pre update 126. but i think they might actually be update seats. regardless, i don't think the frame size changes.

Are the mounts for Series 1 and Series 2 W126 seats the same??  The wiring might be different due to adjustable headrests and seat memory on the Series 2...
