On grille decoration, in AUS garbage trucks often have one or more rescuced teddy bears attached their grille or bull bars. Is this a worldwide thing or just in Oz?

I don't recall ever seeing a teddy bear on a garbage truck. But thenagain, garbage trucks where I live have gotten much less cool overall in the last ten years or so. Gone are the days when garbage men hung onto the back of the trucks, making runs to and from the truck to houses to get the trash. It's all mechanical now. :(

As for the grille inserts, I got curious and here are the prices I was quoted:

1168880185 X 6 molding $6.50 ea
1158882385 X 1 molding $18.50 ea
2019882578 x 18 clips $0.50 ea
0039882078 x 3   clips $0.70 ea

Comes out to about $70 before tax and shipping. Bummer.

I have an alloy Irish Wolfhound badge to fix to my grille. However, I never fitted it! I have one because my parents used to breed IW's and my parents' and brother's car had one and I used to have one on the back of my GoldWing topbox.
Looks good but, very difficult to replace if it got lost or damaged.

i Was hoping to put a nurburgring badge on my grill but i think the colors of that would not bode well with my black car lol

hey CA 116,  hows things in the Terminator Zone 8) I finally decided to just keep my original horizontal Grille trim and replace the damaged vertical one ... Bloody hell these things are #1 Hard to find at a reasonable price & #2 add the postage and the whole thing doubles in price again >:(  so for now in the absence of the vertical strip ive pulled the horizontals across to meet in the middle  and created a new look grille.. which is growing on me ::) not original i know but a bit meaner looking  none the less ;) where do you call home there in my former stomping ground?(Zooport Beach)

i ordered some of these from the US a couple of months back. how's 4 bucks a piece sound, a lot better than stealership prices thats for sure!
they were out of stock of the verticals for some reason, maybe they have them in now?

Hello Gentlemen,

I replaced all of my grille trim pieces too. You can find them online as well as at the dealer. They cost me around $4 (US) each, with the vertical trim piece being $6. The clips are around 45 cents each as well. With a light polishing, the look great. I also painted the plastic grille a slightly darker Charcoal Grey which will help bring out the shine in the trim strips. Autopartsguru.com is a Benz parts site. Randy, the owner is a great guy to work with.  Hope this helps. I'll post some pictures of my 'lil girl' soon.

Regards,
Bob
