from distant memory i spent about 4 grand getting my bumpers and grill done. I also had the bumper bracketry real cadmium plated and then further dipped them in tar, they will never rust again.

Knowing Nathans dad, he probably spent 10.

there may indeed/somehow be some political incorrectness in uluru, but if i have the silver mohican, maybe i should have the red apache (with full respect intended!)...

PB, 10k? i think u got confused with what dad paid the podiatrist to clip the dogs toenails (no not really!) ;)...however, it was thankfully a bit less than what PB quoted, but still a few grand! ouch!

If your dads looking for another dog to look after, i can be addopted - they eat better than i do, sleep better than i do, travel in more class than i do, and are healthier than i am!

But i dont leave hair all over the place, although may still carry fleas.

as mentioned, we received the chromework back. so in a few spare hours i put it back together and put the rubbers back on. its not all yet on the car or i would have taken another pic. attached are some reassembly pics if you havent taken a bumper down before. as previously posted on 116.org, you can see the secret tip for getting the rubber back on the rubber - you need to fold it back on itself and 'roll' it along in this position so the rubber channel is wide enough to fit the metal!

Awesome. Quality pics too.

It's nice to see that the new bolts appear to be galvanized.

Timmys air box also went thru my dishwasher.  ::)

Its never used for dishes anymore, it should really be considered an steaming hot alkaline parts washer.  8)

You'd have to go a long way to beat a dishwasher.

my rubber bumper strip cleaning method doesn't involve the dishwasher anyway.

i boil them on an LPG stove in a stock pot. (a domestic natural gas burner isn't hot enough to boil that volume of water vigorously enough)

then they are soft and plyable and very easy to clean under warm running water using nothing more than a sponge and soapy water. The scourer side can be used to get rid of the glazed appearance. After that you can apply any kind of rubber protecting oil or treatment and it will soak straight in and the rubber looks brand new and stays that way, as mine does to this day. Fresh chrome helps too ;)

SELfor50

That's tidy as!!

Comes up real good dude.  Very very nice.

Can I ask the price of the bolts / MB studs?

nathan

the bolts were only 1-2 dollars each from memory. probably much cheaper at the hardware store but still reasonable. you do need about ~ 8 per bumper though!

just dont scratch the shit out of that new paint when you install the new bumpers ;)

Its best done with 2 people and covering the sides of the car when bringing it in because you WILL scratch it otherwise ;)

you have the new rubber mounting pads too dont you ?

nathan

as balki bartokomus once said, "of course i do, dont be reeediculose!"
